Sleep is so important. Your body needs to be well rested in general. Sleep is even more important when it comes to gout. Some gout flare ups do happen at night, but not enough sleep will cause high uric acid levels. Setting aside time for sleep and resting are essential to breaking free of gout. Making sleep a priority in your life can reduce the amount of gout flare ups you have.
There are specific foods that can cause gout attacks. For example, red meat, beer, and shellfish are all terrible foods to eat for gout. Foods with high purine levels should be avoided when struggling with gout. One of the most important parts to having a good diet for gout is water. The sodas and beers are only making it worse on your body.
One type of diet you should look into is the blood type diet. There are certain foods that are better for your blood type. Click the link below to learn more on blood type diets.
There are supplements that you can take that will possibly help prevent gout attacks. Something that works for one person might not work for the other. This part is more of a trial and error within yourself to see what helps and what doesn't. Some supplements that I take ever day and would recommend everyone else do are magnesium, probiotic, and a multivitamin.
Stress management is something people say about just bettering health in general but there is some science behind it. Hear me out. High levels of stress and anxiety cause the uric acid levels to rise which causes a gout breakout. If you can take some time at the end of the day before bed and just chill out from the day and put down the stressors of your day (this does include your phone if you feel like it should).
Exercising is so important when it comes to preventing gout attacks. Exercising does not break up the uric acid crystals but it helps lower the levels and keep them low. An exercise bike is one of the best ways to get some exercise in for gout, but just some light exercise like walking will do wonders for you.
